IMO State Assembly talks of Governor Okorocha's impeachment



- Community leaders from the three senatorial districts of Imo state have reacted demolition of Ekeukwu market in the state

- The leaders who blamed Governor Rochas Okorocha for the demolition said he manages affairs of the state in a manner that suggests he has an hidden agenda

- They however told Okorocha to resign before he is impeached from office as governor

Community leaders from the three senatorial districts of Imo state on Wednesday, August 30, called on the state House of Assembly not to delay in the impeachment process of Governor Rochas Okorocha for oppressing the people of the state.

According to Vanguard, the Imo leaders’ made this known while reacting to the recent demolition of Ekeukwu market.

It was gathered Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) also called for the resignation or impeachment of Okorocha for his alleged ''flagrant disobedience of subsisting court orders''.

Chief Sam Obaji, group’s spokesperson also said the governor had turned himself into an emperor and was heating up the polity in the state.
The group said: ''As political, social and cultural leaders from across Imo state, we address you today with sorrowful hearts at the happenings in our beloved Imo state, especially the destruction of lives and property in Owerri during last Saturday’s unlawful, reckless and unprofitable demolition of the ancient and iconic Eke-ukwu Owerri main market.

''At the wake of that demolition, four persons were killed, many more wounded and property worth billions of naira destroyed by armed military personnel on the instruction of the state government.

''Most heartrending is the killing of 10-year-old Somtochukwu Igboanusi of 9, Oguamalam street who hailed from Anambra state. That child was gunned down as he tried to clear wares from his father’s shop.
