Champions League: Barcelona Vs Roma Predictions,Betting Tips and Match reviews

Barcelona look on course for a potentially very successful season this year, with them way out ahead in the La Liga table, into the final of the Copa del Rey, and facing a very winnable tie in the Champions League quarter finals this month.

They come into this first leg tie with Roma in decent form, and whilst they did drop points at the weekend the manner of that 2-2 draw with Sevilla will feel like a victory. They were 2-0 down going into the final few minutes, but a quickfire double from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi pulled them out of trouble.

This extended Barcelona unbeaten streak to 17 matches in all competitions, 11 of which have ended in victory. Their record at the Camp Nou is even more impressive, with no defeats since their Spanish Super Cup loss back in August.

Their offensive lineup is rightly praised across the globe, but one drastic improvement they have implemented this season is their defensive tactics. They have kept a clean sheet in 11 of their last 13 home matches, so it’s going to be difficult for Roma to get that all important away goal on Wednesday.

Roma aren’t having a bad season either. They sit 3rd in the Serie A table, and although a challenge for the title is beyond them it’s still a good position in an competitive league, and their success in the Champions League is welcome too.

The weekend saw them draw away from home against Bologna, a result that ended their four match winning streak but extended their unbeaten run to five games. Away from home the Italians have only won four of their last 12 competitive matches though, and two of these games have been defeats in the Champions League as well.

Considering Barcelona’s excellent defensive record, along with their devastating attack, a home win looks extremely likely. We’re not expecting them to offer Roma much in the way of goals either, so we’re backing a Barcelona Win to Nil along with a 3-0 correct score predictions on Wednesday.

We’re also backing Luis Suarez to find the net here. The Uruguayan striker netted at the weekend to make it 22 La Liga goals in just 26 matches this term, and we’re expecting him to carry that form over into the Champions League on Wednesday
