Eagles coach Gernot Rohr considers dropping victor moses ahead Argentina clash

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, is considering leaving Victor Moses out of his starting XI, for their final Group D clash with Argentina.

Nigeria only need to avoid defeat, to qualify for the round of 16 and hope Croatia beat Iceland in the group’s decisive encounters on Tuesday. Both matches will be played concurrently.

Ahead of the game, Rohr is worried by Moses’ attitude, as the Chelsea player has failed to play a pivotal role at the tournament.

For the second Group D game against Iceland, Rohr was forced to switch to a 3-5-2 formation, with Moses playing as a wingback and captain John Mikel Obi dropping deep in midfield.

But Moses apparently did not like the decision that restricted him from “expressing his talent”.

Although Rohr told reporters afterwards that he was satisfied with the player’s display against Iceland, but he showed his frustration during the match, with Moses strolling back after misplacing a pass or losing the ball.

The Guardian also claims that Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick and many other dignitaries had to go to the dressing room, to specifically convince Moses to play in the role before the game.

Nigeria vs Argentina: Maradona reveals how he will help his country win super eagles

Argentina football legend, Diego Maradona, says he is ready to bring his experience and wisdom to the national team, as they stand on the verge of early elimination from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Maradona is demanding access to the team’s training ground, in a bid to heal the rifts that have torn Jorge Sampaoli’s squad apart.

The Albiceleste go into the final Group D clash with Nigeria on one point, following a draw with Iceland and a 3-0 humiliation in the hands of Croatia.

Report says the beleaguered boss Sampaoli has been at war with a number of his top players, including Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Maradona now wants permission to speak to the squad, in a bid to lift their morale ahead of their clash against the Super Eagles.

“I played with my life whenever I got the Argentine shirt.

“Legends like Simeone, Redondo, Ruggeri, Canniggia, Filol, Luque and Gallego did exactly the same.

“I want to be able to talk to the players and make them understand what it means to wear the national shirt,” he said on Argentina TV.

Super eagles supporters club boss worries over Eagles early exit in group stage

President of Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba, says he is not sure the Super Eagles will be able to make it from the group stage going by the way they approached the first game against Croatia.

“As of now, I don’t even know if the team can still qualify from the group. We don’t have any reason losing that game to Croatia. Now, people are rating Iceland higher than Croatia. We have registered our displeasure to the players and their handlers. I personally flew about 30 of our members to the match venue against Croatia. All that money is wasted. I didn’t envisaged that Croatia would beat us in that match.

“Now, more of our members have come in and I hope the players will leave up to their responsibility in Friday match against Iceland. But it will be very bad if we crash out at the group stage considering the effort Nigerians put into the World Cup campaign. But I am still hopeful we will qualify.

“With more of our supporters on ground now, the Eagles will not lack support on Friday. We are ready to do our part. I hope the players won’t disappoint Nigerians,” Okumagba stated.
